The Night’s Terror [Day 70]

DEAD BRANCHES BEAT together, wind rattling the long bare limbs of beech and elm. Fallen leaves scraped the sky, scuttling down the gravel road as an eerie moan sang through the forest. Bats shivered in their roosts, snapping up insects as quick as possible and returning home. Owls huddled in their trees, digesting a swiftly plucked breakfast-rodent. Cats hid under old boards, tails whipping in agitation and fright. A looming presence was stirring under the earth and into the air. A deadly and dangerous ubiety to all that lived or had ever lived.
