Rude Frogs [Day 72]

FROG CROAKS HARMONIZED over the water lilies. A tall drooping tree – Baslin didn’t know what kind and she didn’t care – lounged beside the stone pool. Like it didn’t care where it grew either. Tufts of lacy moss dangled from its wide branches, matching the grey-green film on the water.

Pursing her lips, she peered over the edge.

Little gnats skimmed the scummy water and the lilies were closed. And she didn’t see a single frog.
