Hunt for the Lost Song [Day 9]

THE TREES SHOOK their shaggy verdigris crowns. Wind dragged fingers through the branches. Thorny bramble, white prickly blossoms bursting off the tangled wood, fell across the hidden path. There was no way forward except through the briars.

She paused, lost in thought.

But the sweet, eerie refrain from beyond the trees stirred what little emotion left in her heart and she trudged on, tearing palm and cheek on the coarse petals and sharp thorns.
