Consequence [Day 110]


Standing up, Azana swayed in place; her head spun. Every limb felt leaden. Lips chapped, she swallowed moist phlegm down her throat.

Sunlight burned through the mist of the afternoon, bright white beacons that made her eyes sting.

She took a step, stumbled, and braced herself on the smooth, glossy trunk of one of the crystal trees. It’s cool bark re-livened her dull mind.

I need sleep, she murmured. Later.

Pulling on the bags under her eyes, Azana staggered through the forest.
