It’s like a variant of the Grimm’s “Bremen Town Musicians”. A group of animals – a dog, a cat, a rooster, a fox, an ox, and a mare – all feel that they are down on their luck and band together. The fox tells them “‘I’ve lost my teeth'”, which is important for the lives of the other animals, especially the rooster (89). There are thieves. The animals scare them away and stay in the house.

My questions: How do the animals get more food? There were supplies when they got there, but how do they get more? Or do they die soon after driving out the thieves.

That’s morbid.

As much as I love animals, I’m not a fan of this tale type.
